NEW SKINCARE STUFF I’VE TRIED.

May 29th, 2017

Some cool products I tested.

These up here are just a few, actually.

As you know, lots of brands send me things to try out and if I like them, I either work on a sponsorship or I can get good deals for my subscription boxes.

This post is not sponsored, but I found some really great stuff I wanted to share with you!

The brand up here, with all the products coming out of my Gudetama backpack (which they didn’t send me, I already had it), is called Too Cool for School. I came across this brand years ago, when I was obsessed with Korean skincare and makeup.

At the time, they collaborated with Anke Weckmann for the illustrations in their packagings, which is why the brand stood out to me so much (fast forward a few years later, and I have a couple of tattoos drawn by her, for me).

Interesting how things develop!

Anyway. I like this brand very much, so I asked my team to reach out to possibly include some stuff into my subscription boxes.

They were super kind and sent over a ton of stuff, which I’m slowly trying on.

My personal favourite so far, is this handy blotting sheets set. It’s simple, but so smart!

Usually, when you get these sheets, you just pull them out – which is fine – but this has a mirror, so you can properly check on your makeup, and a cute sponge-like cushion, in which you can slide your fingers on one side, and on the other side, there is a sticky surface so that it picks up a new sheet, so that you don’t need to touch it.

I brought this with me when I was in Amsterdam, and it was super convenient.

IMG_2765.JPG

Another brand I’ve been liking for quite some time, is Origins. I haven’t gotten anything in the past year or so, but then they sent me this White Tea line, and totally made me fall back in love.

IMG_2767.JPG

This lotion, in particular, became the first step in my morning skincare routine.

I was drawn to try it out first because of the beautiful packaging, but the scent of the lotion is incredible. I can’t quite describe it, but for some reason it calms me down, as if it’s a familiar scent and by just putting some on a cotton pad, and rubbing it on my face, instantly makes me a bit happier.

I’m turning 25 this year, and although I’m not too concerned about wrinkles and ageing, the fact that it does say it prevents them, is definitely an added bonus.

IMG_2768.JPG

Oh, and can we mention how generous of them was to gift me an Instax camera?!

IMG_3443.JPG

Another product I really like is this moisturiser by Derma E. I’ve tried and included the scrub in my boxes before, so I was excited to try something else from them.

They asked if I was interested in using a product of my choice in a video, and I picked this one.

The first time I put it on I was so surprise of how buttery it feels, and although it doesn’t claim to have any smoothing agent, I feel like my makeup has been applying even better than usual.

I’m still a huge fan of the rose moisturiser by Fresh, that one is just as amazing, but because I ran out of it while I was in Amsterdam, this one arrived just at the right time.

I love the fact that there is Vitamin C in it; for some reason, as I stated in my latest video, when it comes to skincare, I always search for that, as well as Rose and Tea. I just think they all help with my acne, and they are gentle enough not to bother my skin.

IMG_2781.JPG

And that brings me to this oil, which doesn’t have just one of my favourites ingredients, but two.

I can’t say I notice a difference to most oils that I apply during the night – I think most of the ones I’ve tried do a really good job – but I am very excited to be using this one right now because of its ingredients.

I figured it was worth a mention. I’ve never tried anything from Biossance before, but so far, I like it!

IMG_2747.JPG

The final brand I’m gonna touch base on today, is Philosophy. Just like Origins, I used to buy from it all the time in the past, but kind of stopped because of all the stuff I receive. When I saw they sent me all of these things, some really stood out!

IMG_2750.JPG

I like the minimal perfume bottle approach. Both scents smell really nice, but I found myself going back more often to the smaller one – not sure why!

IMG_2754.JPG

A big favourite was the Amazing Grace body mousse. I am basically a kid when it comes to foam.

The instant I saw the consistency, I was sold. BUT. There is more. When you actually apply it to your skin, it makes a funny noise! Do you know those popping candy packets? It kind of sounds like that to me.

It’s just too fun to apply it, and at the same time it’s very moisturising and the products dries quickly, so you don’t feel sticky.

If you have this product, does yours make the same noise? I’m so curious if it’s just my bottle, or if it’s actually supposed to make that noise!

IMG_2755.JPG

Finally, this mist is everything. I can’t stop spraying it to my face; it’s gotten out of control.

I snapped this photo when I first received it, and now I’m almost halfway through (I have had it for only a few weeks).

It smells really good, but the texture of the water – I know, I sound crazy – is so different. You can feel the moisture. It’s like, soft. Haha I don’t know.

Alright, I better go now! Just know that once I move back to my flat, I will be putting together some giveaways as I have so many products waiting for you. 😉

Marzia.

I just adore and love the time and effort some companies put into their packaging; it really puts a smile on my face when I can tell when a company really values their products. I too also love the minimal packaging, it’s simple but thoughtful.

I was always curious about Origins- this post only furthered my curiosity. Maybe I’ll give the White Tea line a chance.
    Thanks, Marzia!
p.s; have you thought about dying your hair a funky colour for summer like last year?
    Again, just curious 🙂

I love that brands are caring more and more and investing on how their packages and products look like! It’s so beautiful to look at even if some products don’t interest me… Maybe it’s because I love graphic design but I’ve find these packages you share here very well made and cute. Have a nice week! x

Hi Marzia, this was a lovely post! In your latest morning routine video, I saw that you used the fresh rose hydrating toner, and I was wondering about your experience with it?
Because its quite pricey and I don’t want to make the purchase just yet! Thanks and have a great day Mertz!

As always, your picture layouts are gorgeous and well balanced!

It’s really great that you can try and compare between so many brands. It gives you additional insight. Thanks for sharing!

So many great recommendations! Tea tree definitely works to prevent acne for me too. What effects does the rose have on your skin personally? I’ve heard it prevents acne too, do you feel a difference between tea tree and rose oil? It got me curious.

I’ll definitely by the Origins bottle, as I love the tea ingredient. Until now I’ve been using re:p which is made of olive, tea tree and calendula. But the tube is on it’s last legs so it’s a perfect opportunity to add something new.

The blotting sheets look fantastic. I never heard of it before 🙈. These and the mist are on my to try list now!

I am absolutely jealous! I feel like it is so hard to find good skincare products in my country (Poland), and my skin is so sensitive, I wish I had this kind of choices 😉
    Have a nice day!

Loved your gudetama backpack! Anyway, I was searching new products the other day, so I liked the new ones you showed now, as I was intending to change the brands I always use. But I was wondering, the oil you use at night, you use it before the moisturizer lotion, or after?
    Lots of love! ❤

They’re all so beautifully packaged! That’s a big selling point for me too- I like to have pretty products. I recently got the full size tub of Fresh rose deep hydration cream as I ran out of the mini one from the box quickly. It’s an amazing texture and makes my skin feel silky smooth. I use the YesTo cucumber micellar water to take off my makeup before bed, then apply the rose cream all over my face and it’s like going to sleep on a cloud. Plus, in the morning my skin still feels soft- not oily or crusty! Great post (: looking forward to the giveaway as well xoxo

I love Origins there is so much stuff I want to try from them!! Also that Philosophy Mist sounds really nice I used to love their renewed hope in a jar moisturizer but the fact that it comes in a jar made me quit purchasing it.

I love when you do these types of posts! It’s so interesting to read about all these different products. I’ve been wanting to invest in Origin products for a while so I just might now. Also, can we talk about that blotting sheet product? So genius! Thanks for sharing with us :]

I think that the packaging complements the product in a very subtle and effective way! It’s incredible how a good design can change the way we feel when applying or using something ❣️
